The Centre for Clinical Biochemistry has been established with the initial financial assistance from UGC under Innovative Programme Scheme.The main aim of the centre has been to offer quality research and excellent teaching learning opportunities in the emerging field of Clinical Biochemistry. With a vision to produce manpower with sound technical knowhow in the field of diagnostic health care system, the mission is to serve the society to its maximum. The centre is achieving the mission by imparting two years Master’s programme (MSc Clinical Biochemistry) to students, giving them exhaustive theoritical imputs blended with practical hospital based trainings. Candidates with undergraduate degrees in Clinical Biochemistry, Medicine (MBBS), Pharmacy (B. Pharm), Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Environmental Science and Biochemistry are admitted for the course.
Four batches have already passed out successfully and a good number of them have been enrolled for PhD/research programmes at various prestigious places of international repute like Oxford University, London, University of Masachussets Medical school USA, AIIMS New Delhi, National Institute of Nutrition Hyderabad, NII New Delhi, CDFD Hyderabad, IISc. Bangalore, IIT Mumbai, NCBS Banglore, IIIM Jammu, Hamdard University and JMI New Delhi to name a few. A good number of our students have passed the National level tests, like CSIR-UGC NET-JRF, ICMR/DBT-JRF held in 2009, 2010 and 2011.Having practically started in the year 2005, the course has been primarily designed to act as an interface between clinical & non-clinical aspects of Biochemistry. The Department of Clinical Biochemistry is already under the process of developing excellent infrastructure especially in the diagnostic and research laboratories. These state of art laboratories will be utilized for conducting quality research and would house world-class equipments for performing diagnostic tests to a very high level of accuracy.
